Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. Alongside nine Grammy nominations She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to be a presenter and performer at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's rising stars in the sitar. She is a student as well as daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded between London and New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut at just thirteen years of age. In 1999, she completed her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Anouskha was only a teenager, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She's played in many major venues all over the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't just limited to music. She released Bapi, the love of my life in the year 2002. It is a biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her starred on Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to grow and we can expect to see many things from her in the years to follow. Anoushka was born in England and spent a lot of her growing up in between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to the high school. At the age of nine, she started studying music with her father. She made her first on the sitar 4 years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi.
